I have been working in the security alarm business for almost twenty years. During this time I have mostly been on the installation and service side of the business. Her back door was kicked open and Larry was gone as well as some other things. She had been burglarized. She went on to tell me that she couldn't believe it. Well, what she found out was the burglar had cut the phone line before kicking in the back door. She said no one had ever told her the security system would not work if the phone line was cut. In fact, she said she thought the monitoring company received some type of signal whenever the phone didn't work. She was very upset and angry that no one ever told her this. She said "its not that they lied to me, they just neglected to tell me. As upset as she was I certainly felt uncomfortable telling her I was a security installer.
